Sand Filter
- Removes down to 20-40 micron-sized dirt and debris
- Easy-to-use and simple to operate
- Low maintenance
- Requires Backwashing which lowers pool water
- Sand Media holds up much longer than Filter Cartridges
- Less Expensive to Purchase than Cartridge Filter
- Need to change sand every 4 to 5 years, depending on usage
Cartridge Filter
- Removes dirt particles as small as 10-15 microns (best filtering compared to Sand)
- Simple maintenance & no backwashing
- Cuts energy costs by utilizing lower pump pressure
- Low water flow impact
- Need to wash filter cartridges at least twice a year, depending on usage
- Cartridges need to be replaced every few years
- Higher upfront price and Maintenance costs can be a bit higher
